Where children don’t just learn about wind instruments — they learn to think in music
A musicianship-first wind program where children develop musical understanding through listening, singing, movement, breathing, ensemble playing and joyful music making.
At AudiWinds, children learn music from the inside out.
Before reading notes on a page, they first learn to hear music, feel rhythm, develop breath awareness, recognise tonal patterns, and build the inner understanding needed for confident wind playing.
Hear it. Sing it. Play it.
This is not traditional beginner woodwind lessons
Many beginner wind programs focus heavily on fingerings, note reading and technical exercises from the very beginning.
While technique is important, AudiWinds believes true musical understanding must come first.
Our program combines:
-
Music Learning Theory-inspired teaching
-
Ensemble-based learning
-
Aural skill development
-
Singing and movement
-
Breath and airflow development
-
Pattern-based musicianship
-
Foundational wind instrument technique
Children do not simply memorise fingerings.
They learn to understand what they are hearing and playing.
A joyful introduction to wind instruments
AudiWinds introduces children to the world of wind playing in a nurturing and developmentally appropriate environment.
Our beginner classes may include instruments such as:
1. NUVO Little Dood (provided for this program)
2. NUVO Little Toot (provided for this program)
3. Nuvo Clarinéo
4. Nuvo jSax
5. Nuvo Recorder
These instruments are specially designed for young children and help make breath-based music learning accessible, fun and successful from the very beginning.
Children gradually develop the foundational skills needed for future instruments such as:
Saxophone
Clarinet
Flute
Other concert band and orchestral wind instruments

Inspired by Music Learning Theory (MLT)
Our teaching approach is influenced by the work of Dr Edwin Gordon and Music Learning Theory — a research-informed approach to how children learn music naturally.
This philosophy encourages children to:
-
Hear music before reading it
-
Develop rhythm and tonal understanding naturally
-
Learn through active music making
-
Build understanding before memorisation
-
Become independent and expressive musicians
At AudiStrings, we believe children deserve more than simply learning notes.
They deserve to truly understand music.
